Mental Health Awareness

Saline Area Schools has partnered with Care Solace to help families ease the burden of identifying mental health and substance abuse services. Care Solace is a confidential care hub with a network of over 425,000 providers and services, available to families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Care Solace is a complimentary and confidential service provided to Saline Area Schools students, staff, and their families. Care Solace can help families navigate providers, insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and sliding scale payment options for those without insurance.

Families can access Care Solace in three ways:

  • Call 888-515-0595 anytime. Multilingual support is available 24/7/365. A dedicated care companion will help you research options, secure appointments, and follow-up to make sure the provider is a good fit.
  • Search anonymously to get matched with an extensive list of care providers at www.caresolace.com/salineschools.
  • Contact your school social worker, and they will submit a referral on your behalf.

Information on individual treatment providers is gathered by Care Solace based on criteria such as geographic proximity, whether the provider accepts the authorized user’s insurance, and whether the provider is accepting new patients. The school district does not recommend, endorse, promote, or refer to any of the individual treatment providers.

Families or students experiencing a life-threatening emergency or mental health crisis, please call 911 or The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988. Care Solace is not an emergency response service or mental health services provider.

*NEW* 24/25 Scheduling Update

Classes of 2025, 2026, and 2027,

Beginning on May 6th, our juniors began creating their schedules for next year.  This year, we eliminated the option for students to see all classes that are offered in each trimester and each hour (this is the Course Options feature), so students were only able to view the classes they requested as well as their alternates, but it also reduced the opportunity for everyone to potentially create a full schedule by themselves, which is okay.  This was done so that:

  • Students didn’t select a class that they’ve already taken
  • Students didn’t select part B of a class without having taken part A
  • Students didn’t select a class in which they have not met the prerequisite for
  • Students didn’t select a class that they did not request.  The master schedule is built upon the number of requests we have by students for our classes, ensuring that there are enough spots for students who’ve requested a class (to the extent we are able).  If enough students select classes they did not request, it will take spots away from the students who actually requested the class.

In order to allow our students the opportunity and flexibility to create their own schedules based on what they’ve requested, as well as then to allow our students to fill in any gaps or to allow for a change of mind, we will be using the schedule below to finish out the scheduling season for next year.

SOPHOMORES (Class of 2026)

  • Tuesday May 14:  We will run a Hornet Time schedule and Student Schedule Creator is turned on during Hornet Time (turned off after Hornet Time to prevent class distractions) (turned on again at 2:44) without Course Options.  NOTE: Students may have schedule conflicts that prevent them from creating a full schedule at this time.  This is okay.  Students will have the opportunity beginning on May 20th to view all classes offered in each trimester and hour to try to complete their schedule.
  • Wednesday May 15: Student Schedule Creator is turned off at 10:00 PM

FRESHMEN (Class of 2027)

  • Thursday May 16: We will run a Hornet Time schedule and Student Schedule Creator is turned on during Hornet Time (turned off after Hornet Time to prevent class distractions) (turned on again at 2:44) without Course Options.  NOTE: Students may have schedule conflicts that prevent them from creating a full schedule at this time.  This is okay.  Students will have the opportunity beginning on May 20th to view all classes offered in each trimester and hour to try to complete their schedule.
  • Friday May 17: Student Schedule Creator is turned off at 10:00 PM

JUNIORS (Class of 2025)

  • Monday May 20: Student Schedule Creator with Course Options is turned on at 5:00 PM

SOPHOMORES (Class of 2026)

  • Monday May 20: Student Schedule Creator with Course Options is turned on at 6:30 PM

FRESHMEN (Class of 2027)

  • Monday May 20: Student Schedule Creator with Course Options is turned on at 8:00 PM

**Student Schedule Creator with Course Options is turned off on May 22 at 8:00 PM**

NOTES:

  • Over the course of using Student Schedule Creator, we’ve learned that roughly 90% of our students create their schedules within the first 2-3 hours of it being turned on.
  • If you are a student who is unable to complete a full schedule, understand that you will have the options to see which classes are available in each trimester and hour to give you the chance to choose other classes.
  • Do understand that some classes will be full and you may not be able to schedule them
  • Please also understand that there may be schedule conflicts and that students will have to make a choice between classes

  • Failing Grade Notifications- we will be sending Trimester 3 failing grade letters to students and families via school messenger on Tuesday, May 14.
*NEW & IMPROVED* Failing Grade Notifications to Students & Families- Throughout each trimester we send our families and students a failing grade notice via powerschool when a student is struggling in one or more classes (earning 0-59%). These notices have historically been generic- haven’t included specific information about the classes failing, resources available or student name. Going forward, please expect the following 2 part message from Saline High School if your student is failing one or more classes:
    1. School Messenger Email Notification- This message is personalized with the student’s name, offers some tips for success as well as tutoring options that are available at Saline High School.
    2. Secure Attachment- Parent/Guardian must enter student DOB to access the class specific information (Period, Course, Grade, Percent, Teacher Name)

  • A few tips for academic success as we finish out the final trimester:
    • Self-Reflection: Take some time to reflect on your study habits, time management, and areas where you may be struggling. Identify specific topics or concepts that are challenging for you.
    • Utilize Resources: Make use of available resources such as textbooks, online materials, and study guides. Seek help from classmates who may have a better grasp of the material.
    • Visit the Teacher: Schedule a meeting with your teacher to discuss your challenges and seek clarification on concepts you find difficult. Teachers are here to help and are invested in your success.
    • Ask Questions: Do not hesitate to ask questions during class or after school. Clarifying doubts immediately can prevent them from snowballing into bigger problems.
    • Seek Support through Tutoring: District Tutoring List,  Biology TutoringWriting Center (Support for Essays & Papers),  Math Club Tutoring
