Construction Reminder

Construction has started at SHS! All of the information can be found here: https://www.smore.com/n/frdzj

In an email sent by Mr. Rafko before break, here are the key points:

  • The sidewalks near the gym will be closed.
  • Late arrivals must park and enter the east side. Both parking lots are open before school.
  • The attendance office in the front has been relocated to the east side to accommodate late students.
  • Visitor parking will be located only in the front row of the east side, as shown in the image below.
  • The east side entrance is the only place where parents can pick up/sign out their student.

Host Families Needed

Saline High School is partnering with Educatius to bring international students to the Saline community for the 2024-25 school year!

We have matched wonderful families up with incoming students Ariadna from Spain and Linnea from Sweden. Now we only have 3 more students who need families confirmed before the end of the school year.

Below are the incoming 2024-25 school year students excited to be selected by Saline families and
become Hornets!

Elia from Spain (9th grade female)
*Enjoys sports such as paddle tennis and learning new languages. Loves winter (skiing and snow in general). Is an animal lover (especially dogs). Hopes to become a marine biologist one day!
*Letter to host family

Laura from Brazil (10th grade female)
*Enjoys dancing, volleyball, and tennis. Is in a band (writes music and plays piano). Loves to help people and see their joy as a result. Is a dog lover (has 6 dogs at home). Hopes to become a physician one day!
* Letter to host family

Siao “Molly” from Taiwan (11th grade female)
*Enjoys music (plays guitar), video games, reading (history interest), traveling, and trying new foods. Is a warm and considerate person. Aspires to become a valuable person to society!
* Letter to host family

Now is the time to qualify to become a host family for the coming school year! Signing up early will give your family the opportunity to share your preferences (gender, age, country, interests) to ensure best fit student and have plenty of time to get to know your student virtually before they arrive a week before school starts. If there isn’t the right student for you, there is no obligation to host. We are always looking for short-term families, as well.

Watch this video featuring a student and host family from Michigan who won our national host family reunion competition in celebration of our 20th anniversary last year.

Saline Educatius host families receive a $400 monthly stipend to offset the costs of hosting and training/local support to serve in this role successfully. Educatius students also pay our school partners tuition and come with spending money and health insurance

Note: Our students can share a bedroom with a host sibling or other international student as long as they are the same gender and within 3 years of age of each other.

If hosting doesn’t work for your family, help spread the word in our community! We offer a $200 host family referral.

Contact Saline Local Coordinator, Jyl Barnett Nolan, at (262) 468-8035 today to learn how you can have an impact on the life of a student whose dream it is to study in America!

Attendance Matters

ATTENDANCE MATTERS! As we wrap up the 2023-2024 school year, please be mindful of students missing class.  There are plenty of end of the year projects, assessments, presentations and group assignments taking place that they need to be present for! Screenshot 2024-04-24 at 1.25.07 PM.png
